Laptop computers tackle test tasks SAN JOSE, CA--Several companies introduced laptop computers in October that are suitable for use as portable test instruments, say spokesmen for those companies.
The computing power of these laptops, from Grid Systems (Fremont, CA), NEC Home Electronics (Wood Dale, IL), and Compaq Computer (Houston, TX), rivals that of many desktop units, the manufacturers say. Such laptops also offer expansion bases that accept industry-standard add-in cards.
