Mar. 15--Ten Valley raisin packers are pressing for the U.S. Department of Agriculture to release more of the fruit for marketing despite a federal rule opposing such an action until a field price is set.

Two packers -- Boghosian Raisin Packing Co. of Fowler and Lion Raisins Inc. of Selma -- led the petitioning of the department earlier this month and were joined by eight others this week in a request that final reserve percentages be set in the absence of a price "due to unreasonable delays" in the pricing process.
