Companhia de Cimentos do Brasil-Cimpor Brasil Ltda. held by Portuguese group Cimpor (Cimentos de Portugal), for four years in Brazil is making huge investments in the acquisition of cement companies. By September 2000, Cimpor Brasil destinated US$500mil for the acquisition of three plants held by Brennand Group - comprised by Companhia de Cimento de Goais, Companhia de Cimento Atol and Companhia Paraiba de Cimento Portland. The move made the company reach the third place in the domestic ranking.
