You read William Shakespeare's sitcom "The Merry Wives of Windsor," and you think, "This is kind of dumb." You see it on stage and you think, "This is kind of dumb - but it offers actors and directors lots of opportunities for nice comic bits."
Director Pat Patton and his cast of 19 work hard for laughs in their current Tacoma Actors Guild production of "Merry Wives." Their labors are often successful.
Even the lowliest TV situation comedy would not milk a single gag for laughs three times in one episode. "Merry Wives," first produced some 400 years ago, is definitely not Shakespeare's most lowly comedy. It does, however, tell the same joke over and ...
