WALLA WALLA, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 2, 2001

Key Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq/NMS:KTEC), announced today that it expects to report a loss in the range of $0.39 to $0.44 per share on estimated sales of approximately $18.6 million for its second quarter ended March 31, 2001.

Because of weaker than anticipated second quarter results, which became apparent in the latter part of the period, the Company is now anticipating that its revenue growth rate for fiscal 2001 is likely to be in the range of 20 to 30 percent compared to the previous year.
