Cape Henry and Fort Story tell the tale of more history in this area than any other part of Virginia Beach.
The story starts as early as 1607 when the first permanent English settlers in the New World landed there before going on to found Jamestown. The rosy brick, old Cape Henry Lighthouse, built in 1792, was the first federally funded lighthouse in the new nation.
