The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) will mark a milestone by pumping the first crude into its pipeline on Mar. 26 at a celebration in Atyrau attended by Kazak Prime Minister Kasymzhomart Tokaev and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Khristenko. But as a new export route is opened, it's becoming clear that a monopoly is emerging on direct purchases of Kazak crude.
Details are also filtering out about the CPC blend that will be making its debut at the end of June, when the first tanker is loaded at the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk.
