FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. -- Estrogen replacement therapy did not cut the incidence of strokes in postmenopausal women with a history of cerebrovascular disease.

Moreover, results from the first prospective, controlled trial to study the impact of estrogen on secondary prevention of cerebrovascular disease suggested that estrogen may have boosted the early risk of stroke and worsened the severity of nonfatal strokes, Dr. Lawrence M.
