Be captain for a day on San Francisco Bay

* On my debut sail on San Francisco Bay at age 11, I boarded a dinghy with a friend and shoved off from the Tiburon peninsula's north shore. The wind filled our little sail, then died. Drifting, our boat bobbed directly toward San Quentin State Prison. A voice boomed from shore, "Steer clear or risk arrest!"
