Grayslake resolution calls for the funding of a new post office.(News)

Grayslake is trying to light a fire under four federal officials from Illinois in an attempt to get a new post office.

At a meeting Tuesday night, the Grayslake village board passed an informal resolution that urges funding for a previously promised post office. The document, in part, says "the inadequacy of (the current) facility has caused undue hardship to the residents of Grayslake and hampered development within the village.

Grayslake's current post office was built in 1971 and designed to meet the needs of a population that at the time stood at 5,000. However, Grayslake has mushroomed to about 18,000 residents ...
