Plan for auto repair shop in South Elgin stalls.(News)

Plans to move an auto repair shop to a neighborhood on South Elgin's near west side remained in doubt Monday with some residents continuing to campaign against it, saying it would create problems with traffic, noise and parking on their street.

The village board Monday night, hearing for the first time a proposal by resident Dick Lose to move his auto repair business to 164 Ross Avenue after 30 years of business in Elgin, decided it is not yet ready to approve the project.
