HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES DISREGARD FOR NURSING HOME QUALITY

WASHINGTON, Jan. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Nurses' Association (ANA) is extremely concerned at the disregard for quality care in the nursing home regulations released today by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

"Nursing home residents may be without licensed nursing care for as much as 16 hours a day under these new regulations," said Lucille Joel, Ed.D., R.N., F.A.A.N., president of the ANA. "The regulations could also permit states to allow nursing homes to do without a registered nurse entirely."
