There's always a place for Savings Bonds among the stocks and bonds held by investors, says Dino DeConcini.
U.S. Savings Bonds appeal to risk adverse investors or those who need to diversify their portfolios, said DeConcini, executive director of marketing for the federal government's Savings Bond program.
Each year, about $6.5 billion in Savings Bonds are sold, about half through payroll deduction, DeConcini said.
The other half of sales are from ''over the counter'' through banks, thrifts and the Federal Reserve system, he said.
