FRANKFORT -- Defrocked and disgraced, former televangelist Jim Bakker needed a friend as he set out to put the shattered pieces of his life back together.
He found one in former governor Julian Carroll, whose own life was once tainted by the hint of scandal.
Carroll, now a Frankfort attorney, said Monday he has been counseling the former PTL minister through the New Covenant Fellowship and Restoration Center Inc., a non-profit ministry that Carroll helped establish.
