Art-lovers thronged the new exhibit hall at Museum Center at Union Terminal Friday night to see paintings and sculptures in the ''Great American Artists'' show.
This is art to buy, more than 200 pieces created by 70 American artists. Five hundred Cincinnatians - programs and checkbooks in hand - attended the opening.
The 10-foot bronze statue of Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce is the largest piece in the show, and one of the costliest, at $110,000. Santa Fe artist Doug Hyde drove it here from Santa Fe in his pickup; the statue took him 10 months to complete.
Most of the art is in the $1,000-to-$10,000 range. The exhibit ...
