A recent column that mentioned a series of UFO sightings in Middletown drew a mysterious letter from someone identifying him or herself only as ''Space Exploration Chairman of CITGO, Retired.''
Normally, I wouldn't fool with an unsigned letter. But this particular epistle could shed light on what I'll call ''The Middletown Case.'' And, since ''The Middletown Case'' enjoyed national media attention for a short time last summer, any information that might help explain it deserves exploration.
The letter tells of ''a super secret UFO launch center'' within the confines of a major industrial complex in the Middletown area.
