D'Juan Baker's teammates at Midland (Texas) Junior College acted as if he had just won the lottery when they found out he had signed a letter-of-intent to play basketball at the University of Cincinnati.
''They were like, 'Man you're going to Cincinnati,' '' Baker said. ''This is definitely a place a lot of junior college players look to. They look forward to coming here.''
UC has relied heavily on junior college talent since Bob Huggins became coach in 1989, but with the signing last spring of Baker and Ruben Patterson from Independence (Kan.) Community College, the Bearcats have emerged as one of the ...
