Revitalizing the Port Authority of Cincinnati and Hamilton County could help redevelop up to 500 acres of vacant industrial land in the Interstate 75 corridor, local business leaders said Friday.
In a presentation to the Port Authority's board, Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce officials proposed restructuring the now-dormant institution to buy environmentally contaminated industrial land - called ''brownfields'' - and prepare them for development. Along with city, county and community leaders, the chamber has applied for a $200,000 federal grant to start the process.
