Ruben Sierra drove in three runs in an eight-run sixth inning that carried the New York Yankees to a 12-5 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night, giving the Yankees their eighth win in nine games.
With the Yankees trailing, 5-1, Sierra drove in the first run in the sixth with a sacrifice fly off Tigers starter Felipe Lira. Sierra later singled for two more runs off Mike Myers, the fourth Detroit pitcher in the inning.
Detroit, which has now lost 17 of 19 games and five in a row, built a 5-1 lead off Scott Kamieniecki, who was starting in place of David Cone. He missed a start for the second time ...
