The nation's largest sternwheel river boat is stranded in Cincinnati, trapped between the Suspension Bridge and the L&N Railroad Bridge.
The Ohio River has risen too high for the American Queen, which towers 57 feet above its water line, to pass under either bridge. And that is with her stacks and wheelhouse lowered.
''She's taller than anything that comes through here,'' said Coast Guard Petty Officer Rick Freed. ''It's a unique situation.''
The boat's five-day cruise to Pittsburgh has been canceled, and, with the river continuing to rise, the boat could be here for days.
