What began Wednesday night as a scavenger hunt by students from Holy Cross High School in Covington ended Thursday with seven arrests and 22 citations for trespassing, receiving stolen property and curfew violations.
Covington Assistant Chief Steve Schmidt said police received word of the scavenger hunt from residents who spotted juveniles running through their neighborhoods before midnight and stealing things like lawn ornaments, flags, bird baths and license plates.
''So many items were taken we had to haul them to the police garage,'' Schmidt said.
