Pay attention to those family tales told around the dinner table.
Five years ago, teacher Mary Kay Kroeger was listening to her dad tell a story about his days as a paperboy for the old Times-Star newspaper in Cincinnati. ''His recall was so good. I said 'Stop, I have to write this down,' '' said Ms. Kroeger, who lives in White Oak and teaches at Terrace Park Elementary school.
''I wanted to save it for my kids.''
Ms. Kroeger was then an aspiring writer who had just participated in the Ohio Writing Project at Miami University, Oxford. ''I was indoctrinated in writing from the heart and telling ...
