If this were the Hollywood entertainment paper Daily Variety, the headline would probably scream ''First 'Friends' Film Fails'' or ''LeBlanc Fires le Blank.''
I'm going to be less vicious, though, because Matt LeBlanc isn't the problem with ''Ed.'' He plays essentially the same character as his lovably vacuous Joey on the mega-hit NBC TV show ''Friends.''
But the rest of ''Ed'' is a mess.
I had flop-sweat for the poor guy, watching him cavort across the screen with an animatronic monkey - or a guy in a chimp suit - knowing full well that the ''Friends'' factor was going to get ''Ed'' way more ...
