Designers keep on telling us that a common decorating mistake is hanging pictures too high on the wall. If your sofa is backed by a large framed something or an arrangement of art, check the wall space: Not much should be left blank above the top of the sofa or loveseat.
Then again, there could be some exceptions. Maybe you think a picture or painting looks better hung high. You're the daily viewer; hang the hallowed decorating principle and put the picture where you like it.
