Apr. 7--Attention, shoppers: An old friend is back in Kmart stores.
The Blue Light Special, a sale promotion begun in 1965 and retired in 1991, is being revived by the discount store chain as it seeks to create a niche among competitors in the industry.
Accompanied by snappy music, flashing blue lights and signs that warn, "Entering Blue Light Zone -- Remain Calm," the Blue Light Special occurs about every hour in each Kmart store.
