Wednesday night's opening game in the 6th Region girls' soccer tournament at Conner High School figured to be a high-scoring affair with two of the top offenses in Northern Kentucky squaring off.
Holy Cross led all of Northern Kentucky with 81 goals during the regular season, and its opponent, Boone County, featured two of the top three scorers in the league in Suzie Smith and Michelle Moss.
What wasn't expected was a one-sided result. But that is exactly the way it turned out as Holy Cross blew open a 1-0 halftime lead and defeated the Rebels, 6-0.
