Susan Cook so loved her second-grade teacher that she decided at 7 that she, too, wanted to become a teacher.
''Then I went about spending the rest of my life making that happen,'' Mrs. Cook said.
By 11 or 12 years of age she found herself volunteering with groups of small children in her church.
