Apr. 7--TAMPA, Fla.--Columbus Crew Stadium may lack the name recognition of legendary sports venues such as Yankee Stadium or Wrigley Field, but to Major League Soccer it's just as significant.
Crew Stadium, home to MLS' Columbus Crew, is the first major-league facility in the United States built specifically for soccer. The team's investor-operator, Lamar Hunt, paid for the $28.5 million facility after Columbus-area voters twice voted down proposals to help pay for it.
