The Wisconsin State Fair will feature hoofed animals at this year's event, despite agriculture officials' concern about Europe's foot-and-mouth disease, a state agriculture official said.
State Agriculture Secretary Jim Harsdorf had urged farmers last week to consider holding annual June dairy breakfasts off farm property, which prompted several counties to cancel their annual farm breakfasts.
But he said that "there is absolutely no consideration being given to the idea" of keeping farm animals out of the fair.
"At this point it would be very inappropriate," Harsdorf said.
