AEC-NACO has won a $16 million order to supply its advanced Axle Motion III suspension systems for 490 new Railtrack maintenance cars. It's an order that could lead to broad acceptance of the ABC-NACO system throughout Europe.
The Illinois-based company said its design was accepted after 18 months of tests by Railtrack, which owns Britain's rail infrastructure. The tests sought to determine which of several leading suspension systems "could haul the maximum allowable loads, at higher speeds, with significantly lower track forces and a high level of safety."
