With the California power outages and the ever-rising utility costs, the notion of the energy crisis may be closer to home than we think, and more manufacturers are introducing energy-efficient appliances.
At the 2001 International Housewares Show in Chicago in January, Whirlpool featured energy-efficient Energy Star dehumidifiers at its booth. The event marked Energy Star's entrance into the small appliance category.
