Doctors Recognize Need to Let Terminally Ill Patients Die at Request of Family Members.

Although euthanasia is illegal in Korea, a code of ethics has recently been drafted allowing medical professionals to let terminally ill patients die at the request of their families.
The Korean Medical Association (KMA) is expected to formally adopt the code, which will define doctor's roles and social responsibilities, by the end of this month. It contains ethical guidelines on about 60 categories related to the practice of medicine.
The code also contains a clause stating that if terminal patients and their family members request a termination of treatment, doctors may accept the request.
