When guests contemplate which wedding presents to buy Melissa Stagg and Gregory Haak, they won't be choosing from traditional registry fare such as china, crystal and stemware.
Instead, they'll buy items like propane tanks, fold-up raincoats and sleeping mats.
"We're not going the traditional route because we didn't feel the need to acquire stuff we'll never use and that my fiancee, who has slippery fingers, is going to break," said Stagg, a 24-year-old Park Ridge resident whose wedding is in October. "We're registering for a lot of practical stuff we can use."
