The winds of change appear to be blowing through Bloomingdale as a town once proud of having only one liquor store appears ready to welcome a second, but "upscale" liquor store to the area despite a long-standing policy against liquor stores.
Springbrook Shopping Center owner George Koufus spoke to the village board Monday on behalf of local businessman Josef Miericzek and told board members of Miericzek's plan to open a 3,000-square- foot liquor store with a "significant wine department with accessories and gourmet cheese and sausages to go along with the liquor" in the shopping center.
