MANY HAMPTON ROADS gardeners are growing bananas, willing to wait and wait and wait for fruit. They've learned it takes three years before the banana tree blooms and five to seven years before the tree sets fruit and bears edible bananas.
Just the same, more and more gardeners like the tropical foliage and the challenge bananas bring to a garden.
