CHESAPEAKE -- Less than two weeks after South Norfolk business owners complained that a centrally located building was posing safety and aesthetic problems, city inspectors shut it down and ordered repairs.
Called the Big Pig because of the last grocery store that operated there, the building on Poindexter Street has been boarded up and used for storage since 1989 by Farm Fresh.
The Norfolk-based grocery chain's lease requires it to maintain the property, but members of the South Norfolk Business Consortium say pieces of the facade are falling off, the paint is peeling and they fear the building is attracting ...
