ELIZABETH CITY -- Tears welled in Yale Iverson's eyes as the 58-year-old skipper described the final hours aboard his sinking 125-foot sailing schooner and the rescue of the crew from raging seas off Cape Hatteras.
``It's not a good thing to be in the water in a storm like that under any circumstances,'' Iverson said after he was brought to Elizabeth City by Coast Guard rescuers. ``And a man whose name I still don't know jumped into that water to help people he didn't know.
``And he saved our lives.''
