George Shinn says he is seriously considering applying today for an NHL expansion franchise that would play in Hampton Roads.
Shinn said late Thursday night that if he is able to reach an agreement this morning with officials in Hampton Roads, he will fly his private jet to Norfolk today to pick up local officials, then drop off an application and the $100,000, non-refundable application fee at NHL headquarters in New York and meet with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman.
``We're pushing to see what might make sense with the people in Virginia,'' Shinn told The Charlotte Observer.
