KILL DEVIL HILLS -- To put the brakes on a rash of bicycle thefts, police will conduct a bike identification program today at a local shopping center.
Kill Devil Hills Police Chief Ray Davis said Friday that nearly 90 bicycles - some worth $50, some worth thousands of dollars - have been stolen over the past year.
``During the summer, bicycles pose one of the biggest theft problems we have,'' Davis said. ``We've had 88 bicycles taken this year.''
The identification program is part of Sea Holly Square's Community Fest. Police also will provide child identifications and fingerprinting, along with the bike program. Units from the ...
