Irene E. Southerland
CHESAPEAKE - Irene E. Southerland, 89, of the 500 block of Saber Drive, died Aug. 6, 1996.
Mrs. Southerland was born in Camden County, N.C., and was the daughter of the late Joseph G. and Margaret Bartlett Etheridge. She was the widow of William Hyden Southerland. Mrs. Southerland, a graduate of East Carolina University, taught in the public schools in Camden County and taught private piano lessons, as well as conducting glee clubs and choral groups. Mrs. Southerland was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, South Mills and served as organist and director of music for more than 50 years. She was the lifetime chairman of the ...
