Even though the formal opening of Soundbridge - Seattle Symphony Orchestra's handsome and technologically sophisticated new learning center - is not scheduled until Tuesday, kids and adults are already swarming over the space at the northwest corner of Benaroya Hall.
That is exactly what the symphony wanted for its multimillion-dollar, one-of-kind center designed purely for learning about music.
When Benaroya was still in the planning stages, this corner on Second Avenue was considered perfect for something retail - a restaurant, a store. The symphony wanted the income and civic advocates wanted more daytime use of the building. Those retail hopes never ...
