FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION BANS SOME SLEEP-AID INGREDIENTS
WASHINGTON, Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The Food and Drug Administration today announced a standard for non-prescription sleep-aid products that leaves most of their active ingredients untouched but bans several other ingredients.
FDA found safe and effective the ingredients diphenhydramine hydrochloride and diphenhydramine citrate, both antihistamines similar to those in some colds products. These ingredients are in the sleep-aid products Compoz, Nervine, Nytol, Sleep-eze-3, Sleepinal, Sominex and Sominex-2.
