EDMONTON, Alberta _ Just once this season, Stars coach Ken Hitchcock would like to see his team injury-free, motivated and playing its best hockey.
His dream won't be realized in the first-round series with the Edmonton Oilers.
A sprained right knee will sideline center Joe Nieuwendyk for at least two games and quite possibly for the rest of the series.
Veteran Benoit Hogue replaced Nieuwendyk in the Stars lineup.
"Joe's situation is he has a Grade 1 MCL tear," Hitchcock said before Sunday's Game 3 with the Edmonton Oilers. "And under normal circumstances that's 7-10 days. I would say his availability is in question."
