THE TITLE OF HUUB BEURSKENS'S volume of gnomic poetry recalls the curious moment in the Tristan of Gottfried von Strassburg when we are told that Christ in his virtue is as "pliant as a windblown sleeve." The last poem here is called "My Shirt" and ends with the image of a shirt flapping in the wind. These poems play with the intersection between the human and the divine.
