William G. Broderick of Roslindale, a retired Massachusetts State Police detective lieutenant, died Thursday at home. He was 77.
Born in Boston, Mr. Broderick was raised in Jamaica Plain and graduated from Commerce High School in 1941. He moved to Roslindale in the late 1930s.
Mr. Broderick was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II and stationed on the USS Mayo, serving as an electrician's mate second class. He was discharged in 1946.
Mr. Broderick joined the Boston Police Department in 1949 and was a patrolman before being promoted to sergeant in the early 1960s. He mainly worked in the Brighton district. He transferred to the Massachusetts ...
