EDMONTON, Alberta _ The St. Louis Blues' decision to give up on Brett Hull three summers ago came down to playoffs. They didn't think they could win with him.
What they were essentially saying was that Hull could score big goals but couldn't play the type of game necessary to survive when the hockey gets ugly and nasty.
Oh boy, were they wrong _ 180 degrees wrong.
And the irony isn't lost on Hull, especially now, as the Stars wing finds himself playing gritty, nasty, in-the-corners hockey that makes those big goals he has made a career out of scoring harder to come by than blowouts in Dallas' first-round playoff series with the Edmonton Oilers. ...
