DALLAS _ Tom Barnhouse, a Richardson, Texas, attorney who prepares wills, estates and trusts, says he frequently sees clients who are beginning to recognize that financial planning isn't just for the privileged.
"They've gotten by without professional help, and sometimes they don't realize they need help," he says. "In some cases, they don't realize how wealthy they've become; they started out making a modest income and now they've accumulated wealth."
Once a component of estate law and financial planning, estate planning is slowly becoming its own specialty as personal wealth _ particularly among baby boomers _ increases.
