Kenya structures its social and economic assistance programs for women through the network of existing women's groups. Some 16,200 of these privately formed groups are registered with the government's Women's Bureau and are eligible for assistance that range from farming techniques, credit availability, education, and family planning. The inclusion of women in the decision making process on the scope and the planning of these programs ensures their wide acceptance and cost efficiency.
