High Point -- It wasn't a rose garden, but most of the 11 retailers reviewed by Kids Today posted same-store sales for each quarter of 2000 that were higher than the equivalent quarter in 1999.
Strongest gains were posted by specialists Bed, Bath and Beyond, Burlington Coat Factory, and Linens `n Things, and discount department store behemoth Wal-Mart. The specialists haven't reported same-store sales changes for January, but Wal-Mart continues its growth path with January 2001 same store sales topping January 2000 by a healthy 6%.
