OSHA ORDERED TO RECONSIDER FORMALDEHYDE STANDARD
WASHINGTON (FNS) -- Handing organized labor a significant victory over the textile and apparel industries, a federal appeals court has ordered the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to reconsider the OSHA standard for worker exposure to formaldehyde, a chemical used in the durable-press treatment of textiles.
In a lawsuit brought by the Amalgamated Clothing & Textile Workers Union (ACTW) and other labor groups, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia ruled that OSHA failed to adequately explain its December 1987 decision to set worker exposure to formaldehyde at one part per ...
